From January through March the Indian Wells calendar is packed. The PGA Tour arrives in La Quinta in January, El Paseo hosts a long weekend of food and wine, art festivals fill the lawns, and the BNP Paribas Open turns the Tennis Garden into one of the busiest places in sport. The LPGA's qualifying tour adds its season finale in autumn. Hotels and dinner tables book early.
The BNP Paribas Open fills the Indian Wells Tennis Garden each March as one of the ATP's nine Masters 1000 events and one of the WTA's mandatory 1000 tournaments. The 2027 edition runs February 28 through March 14, bringing the world's top players, packed crowds in Stadium 1 and the year's busiest weeks for local hotels.
The American Express, the PGA Tour event that began as the Bob Hope Desert Classic, returns to La Quinta each January. Players rotate between the Pete Dye Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club, and the tournament week pairs championship golf with live concerts for fans on the grounds.
The Epson Tour Championship is the season finale of the LPGA's official qualifying tour, played each autumn on the Players Course at the city-owned Indian Wells Golf Resort. When it ends, the top 15 players in the Race for the Card standings earn LPGA Tour cards, and the city has extended the event through 2029.
The La Quinta Art Celebration, which carries on the tradition of the long-running La Quinta Arts Festival, brings juried artists to La Quinta Civic Center Park twice a year, with a spring show and a November Encore edition. Visitors browse painting, sculpture, glass, jewelry and photography and can buy directly from the artists who made the work.
Palm Desert Food & Wine, produced by Palm Springs Life, takes over El Paseo for four days each March with chef talks, tastings and wine pours from leading producers. The 2026 festival ran March 19 to 22, and the event usually returns in the same spring window, so watch for ticket releases early in the new year.
