Private country club golf course against the Santa Rosa Mountains in Indian Wells

Country Clubs

Behind the gates.

The private clubs that shaped Indian Wells, from 1950s pioneers to Nicklaus and Fazio designs.

Country clubs came before the city itself. Indian Wells Country Club opened in 1956 and Eldorado in 1957, a decade before incorporation in 1967, and today most residents live inside a gated club community. Each has its own character, from presidential history and tournament pedigree to mountain-edge courses by Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. Membership rules vary widely, so ask before you buy.
